Even though I found myself sleeping a lot for the first few days after the increase in my Depakote, I managed (as I usually do) to find a few things to celebrate this week.

  1. The weather the past two days have been glorious. The snow is mostly melted and it feels like Spring. When the weather is this nice, my pain levels are reduced. I’m thrilled about that.
  2. Vivi’s family and I went to a Puerto Rican spot on Saturday to celebrate her hubby’s birthday. The food was amazing.
  3. I spoke to a friend that I haven’t seen in years and when I head to NJ next, we’re planning to meet up. Super stoked.

Best of all, I’m STILL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GRASS!! Can I get a woohoo!! 🙂

What have you celebrated this week?

There are some things I need to discuss regarding the MRIs I had taken a few weeks ago, but that’s for a post next week. Today, I’m keeping it all positive.

  • I saw my neurologist today and he’s weaning me off the Keppra and next week starting to increase the Depakote. He’s working one med at a time in case there’s a problem, he’ll know which med is responsible. I’m just happy to get this ball rolling already.
  • Last week my other blog, lilicasplace celebrated four years of blogging.
  • Vivi and I also had manicures done last week.
  • After my neuro visit, Vivi treated me to breakfast before heading off to work.

And of course, I’m STILL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GRASS!!

What have you celebrated this week?

I’m not kidding when I said I need this now. I know it’s after 1:30 AM Saturday here on the east coast, but it is still Friday in the other parts of the country. Hope that counts. 🙂

I haven’t had a good couple weeks, with moving/ management company issues, pain, and getting my medical insurance squared away for NY, among other things. I’ll leave it at that because I want to talk about the good things – the small things that have made the past couple of weeks tolerable.

My daughter is 29-years-old today, and I called just after midnight. She was just getting off her EMS shift when I called (half-night for the birthday girl). Her comment to me was ‘This is my last year in my 20’s; once 30 hits, I have to get my shit together.” Umm,  I couldn’t be prouder of her or my son-in-law if I tried. They both work hard, Mandy has her EMT now, so she has her day job and Friday and Saturday nights on the ambulance.

I’m celebrating having a chance to see Doctor Strange with Vi and the family. It was awesome, and I am completely obsessed with Marvel now.

Vi has gone above & beyond helping get things out of the cottage and bringing them to the house.

We went out to eat at an awesome Indian restaurant called Saffron. It’s my second time there and I love the food! You can just call me Ms. Chicken Tikka Masala. Yum.

One of the other things that have been making me laugh and/or smile are the Obama/Biden memes. O.o

And always the best, I’m STILL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GRASS!!

What have you celebrated this week?

#CTST – A FABULOUS SUMMER

Hey, everyone! It’s time for another posting of Celebrate the Small Things brought to us by LEXA CAINPost anything in life that you’re celebrating, no matter how small or big, on your blog. I know it’s been a while for me, but I spent the past month actually enjoying my summer (for the most part).

I’ve had a lot to celebrate over the past several weeks. My depression has been almost non-existent since I spent a good portion of the summer between the homes of my daughter and son-in-law, my friend Luis, and my friends Vivian and Alan (who just celebrated 25 years of marriage!) I was one of the witnesses at their civil ceremony all those years ago, and was thrilled to share in their anniversary festivities.

The party happened to fall on my birthday, so not only did I get a shout out at the party, but Vivi and Alan took me to Medieval Times in Lyndhurst the following week as a birthday gift. Loved it!

I also finished my review of Lexa’s soon to be released book, Bloodwalker – and it was amazing! Creepy, thrilling, engrossing, you name it. You can read the review I left on my other blog lilicasplace .

I’m heading out this weekend again, but I’m taking my computer with me, so I’ll try doing better with my postings. Don’t know when I’ll be home, but I’ve got a lot of cool plans. Stay tuned!

Best of all, I’m STILL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GRASS!! Yeah, Baby!!

What have you celebrated this week or this summer? I need to catch up!  🙂

IWSG – FEELING GOOD

Hello bloggers. It is the first Wednesday of the month and we know what that means, right? Time for the Insecure Writers Support Group – #IWSG.

NinjaInsecure Writers Support Group Badge Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh , my hero and one of my mentors, founded this amazing and wonderful group.

The group’s purpose is to allow writers to share their doubts and fears, trials and tribulations without fear of being mocked or feeling foolish. It’s also a place where writers who have “been there” can offer wisdom and guidance.

Whenever anyone finishes a draft, edits their work, finds the perfect critique group, publishes their work, or has any other good news to share, this is the place to do it too!

The awesome co-hosts for the July 6 posting of the IWSG are Yolanda Renee, Tyrean Martinson, Madeline Mora-Summonte , LK Hill, Rachna Chhabria, and JA Scott!

July has been off to a great start! I’m feeling better than I have in some time. Friends and former colleagues that I haven’t seen in a couple of years were up my way. One of my former co-workers, Vee, picked me up two days in a row so I could spend time at an area pool. She’s my sister from another mister. 🙂

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw others that I knew from NJ at the pool. I did throw caution to the wind on Sunday, having about four drinks instead of my usual two baby drinks. I suffered royally that night from a migraine, but for all that fun, it was worth it.

Check out my other blog’s IWSG post this month too at lilicasplace.

How was your Fourth of July weekend?

I have so many things to celebrate for a change, I don’t know where to start. This past week has been the chicken soup for the soul I’ve needed. God willing, next week will be just as bright. 🙂

  1. My daughter Mandy came to visit me last weekend after her volunteer EMS shift last Friday night and stayed until Sunday. After that, she and her best friend Gabriel dropped me and Sophie off in the Bronx.
  2. We’ve been in the Bronx with my Comai Julie (best friends since 13 and we’re now 50) and godson Gabriel since Sunday. Even better, my niece Juliette, her hubs Mike and kids Romeo and Mercutio live in the apartment downstairs. We’ll probably be here for another week and a half or so.
  3. Last night me and Julie went to see my favorite Latin music artist, Juan Luis Guerra at Madison Square Garden. LOVE HIM!!!!
  4. I did another one of my favorite things, and that was co-hosting the Insecure Writers Support Group for the Ninja Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh. Love him too, cuz he’s my twinny. 😀
  5. I tried something I’ve never done before, only because my niece had it done and it looks so good on her … I had my eyebrows tinted!
  6. My niece did my hair and makeup for the concert … and did a fabulous job. I almost didn’t recognize myself!
  7. Actually found time to relax, catch up on what’s been going on with the families, and even schedule some posts.

Best of them all, I’m STILL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GRASS!! Yeah, Baby!!

What have you celebrated this week?

The past month and a half has been rough but I still have a list of things to celebrate.

  1. God, my family/few friends, the Fellowship, and my close-knit online buddies love me (They really love me!)   🙂
  2. Sophie, what can I say? I love this hairy little thing…
  3. My daughter and son-in-law got me a PS4 with Fallout 4 and the new Call of Duty for Christmas
  4. I got to spend a few days with my brother from another mother (not you Twinny) Luis, including New Year’s Eve and Day.

Even through my sadness and depression, I celebrate the fact that I’m STILL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GRASS!! And I praise you Lord, for the gift of my life.

What have you celebrated this week?
