IWSG – CAN I HANDLE THE REST OF THE YEAR?

Hello fellow bloggers. It is the first Wednesday of the month and we know what that means, right? Time for the Insecure Writers Support Group – #IWSG.

Ninja Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh , my hero and one of my mentors, founded this amazing and wonderful group.

The group’s purpose is to allow writers to share their doubts and fears, trials and tribulations without fear of being mocked or feeling foolish. It’s also a place where writers who have “been there” can offer wisdom and guidance.

Whenever anyone finishes a draft, edits their work, finds the perfect critique group, publishes their work, or has any other good news to share, this is the place to do it too!

The awesome co-hosts for this month’s posting of the IWSG are  Nancy Gideon, Bob R Milne, Doreen McGettigan, Chrys Fey, Bish Denham, and Pat Garcia!

Make sure you pay them a visit and thank them for all their hard work!

I’m not going to lie. The past several weeks have been brutal to me. I haven’t been feeling well (long story) and it’s turned life upside down for me. The first half of the year was pretty amazing as far as my goals were concerned, but now I feel like I’ve moved forward only to take five steps back.

It’s frustrating. I’ve only been able to clear out ONE of my email accounts so far. I have posts in my folder from hops that I had intended on participating in last month that I wasn’t able to get to. That irritates me even more. I don’t like doing that.

The hosts of the blog hops I regularly participate in know my situation and understand that there are times that I’ll miss posting. Because of that understanding, I’m kept on the list. I LOVE them for that. The reason I’m wary of joining one time, or mini blog-hops is because I never know what’s going to happen or how I’m going to feel. Lately, it’s always something.

I’m trying to stay positive, but it’s becoming increasingly difficult. I’d been on such a great course for most of the year, but part of me wants to roll up into a fetal position next to Sophie on the bed and just suck my thumb.

I hope this lethargy and uncertainty are side effects from not feeling well lately. I need my body to jump-start back into action again. I have far too many things I want to accomplish in the coming months.

How do you handle times when you’re veered off course and have fallen behind on important projects?

Check out my other blog’s IWSG post this month too at lilicasplace.

About My Miracle Life

I'm a writer, blogger, avid reader, book reviewer, sub-arachnoid hemorrhage and stroke survivor, moving forward in my recovery and trying to advocate for stroke and brain hemorrhage awareness and prevention. I'm also slowly working towards independence, driving, my first novel, a memoir and a series of short stories. I've been lucky to have a very small network of close friends to guide me; I've been even luckier to have found an online 'family' of sorts to help me through the rough times.

Oh Sweetie, I am so sorry to hear that you’re not doing well physically. Sometimes our bodies demand that we slow down and not move as fast as we would like to move. I know you would like to move the world, but try working on one or two of your projects a day and don’t try to do them all at once, like in multi-tasking. The same with your email postfach, do as much as you can and when you feel tired, then stop. Take a walk or if you have a porch or balcony, sit there with a good book and read a few inspiring lines.

Don’t give up. This too shall pass.

    Shalom,
    Pat Garcia

    • Thanks for the kind words, Pat. I’m trying, but don’t have much energy lately. Will be back to see my doctor shortly. Definitely going to do some reading later. Thanks so much for co-hosting this month’s IWSG. We all appreciate it. Blessings. Eva

Health issues trump online activities and things like blog hops by a mile. Get those silly worries right out of your mind. You need to focus on you, your health, and being your own advocate. Do what will help you and leave all that other stuff behind. The world won’t stop and no one will hate you. We’ll love you even more when you finally come back! I hope you feel better soon. 🙂

Lexa is right, Eva. Take special care of yourself so you feel fine again and keep being positive. I think that will help. If you concentrate on something you’re happy about each day, it will keep your spirits lifted. We’re all here to support you.

    • I know, Deanie and I’m trying. It seems to become a little harder to remain positive each time something happens, though. Moved up some doctor appointments to see if I can get some answers. Love you!! Eva

    • I know that, Alex. I’m slowly trying to get back into some kind of routine, that’s all. I’m part of the greatest Fellowship in the world, so I can’t help but feel loved. 🙂 You so rock, brother. Xoxoxo. (((HUGS)))

  5. I’m sorry you got knocked back after making such progress. That sucks. It totally does. Just know that we love you, and we’re all pulling for you. Rest up, and we’ll be here for you when you get back up to speed. Hugs, my friend.

I hope you start feeling better. I am having some health issues that have slowed me down too. It is so frustrating. I just do as much as I can when I’m feeling well.

I have to be honest, I’m kind of in the same place lately, with a lot going on, so my first thought about how I bounce back was – I’ll let you know when I get there! In the past, I’ve found the best thing to do is, well, to Just Do It. Treat today like a new day – which it is – and don’t let myself even start thinking “but it’s been months/days/weeks/years/hours.” That was then and this is now. You can do it! Thanks for sharing too, as I need to tell myself that, too, right now.

  9. Hi! I’m hopping over from Melissa’s site. Sorry you haven’t been feeling well. It can really throw life into a tizzy. I spent about 3 1/2 of the last four years trying to figure out why I felt so crappy all the time. Anyway, the doctors finally diagnosed me and I’ve been able to get back to life. Best of luck with feeling better. As far as how I handled falling behind, the first thing was to give myself permission that is was okay. That was by far the hardest part for me. After that, I cut back and slowly sifted through my already scheduled blogging/writing responsibilities.

    • Thanks so much for your kind words! I hope you weren’t diagnosed with anything major. I’ve been slowly getting back into the groove of things. 🙂 I appreciate your visit so much. You really made my evening. Hugs. Eva
